Hello World

Why start a blog?

why write?

Writing — and actually publishing — is something I’ve wanted to pick up for a long time. I have 80% drafts scattered across the past, and I probably would’ve benefited from hitting the go button a few dozen times… but here we are.

There are a few goals I have for this effort:

increase my luck surface

You know, get in the arena? Do things?

Writing and public accountability aren’t what motivate me to explore new technologies or start side projects — I fortunately have no problem doing that part. What I’m missing is Doing & Telling. The latter admittedly puts me a bit out of my comfort zone, and leaning into that discomfort is usually where the growth is hiding.

refine my understanding and communication skills

You don’t really understand something until you can explain it cleanly to someone else.

I’m also pretty good at tricking myself into thinking I understand something… right up until the moment I try to turn the thought into actual words. Writing should help surface those gaps and sharpen the ideas I’m carrying around.

give back to fellow netizens

In the internet economy, there are way more consumers than producers. I’ve benefited a ton from people sharing their work, their experiments, and their half-baked thoughts. It only feels fair to contribute something back.
